¹⁵ for I will give you words^[a] and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict.^(A)

⁹ Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me,

¹⁹ Pray also for me, so that when I speak a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,^[a](A)

¹² for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what you ought to say.”

¹⁰ But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit^[a] with which he spoke.^(A)

³ At the same time, pray for us as well, that God will open to us a door for the word, that we may declare the mystery of Christ, for which I am in prison,^{(A) 4} so that I may reveal it clearly, as I should.

¹⁶ At my first defense no one came to my support, but all deserted me. May it not be counted against them! ¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth.^(A)

⁵ If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you.^(A)

⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures,

¹¹ Then the Lord said to him, “Who gives speech to mortals? Who makes them mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?^{(A) 12} Now go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you are to speak.”^(B)
