Jesus Is Named

²¹ When the eighth day came, it was time to circumcise the child,^[a] and he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.^(A)

³¹ And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus.^(A)

²⁵ but had no marital relations with her until she had given birth to a son,^[a] and he named him Jesus.^(A)

³ On the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.^(A)

⁵⁹ On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him Zechariah after his father.^(A)

²¹ She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”^(A)

¹² Throughout your generations every male among you shall be circumcised when he is eight days old, including the slave born in your house and the one bought with your money from any foreigner who is not of your offspring.^(A)

¹⁵ But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented.

⁴ But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,^{(A) 5} in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children.^(B)
