^32 (A)Remember Lot’s wife.

²⁶ But his wife looked back behind him, and she became ^(A)a pillar of salt.

³⁹ But we are not of those ^(B)who draw back to ^[b]perdition, but of those who ^(C)believe to the saving of the soul.

Deceptions of False Teachers

¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who ^[a]have actually escaped from those who live in error. ¹⁹ While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of ^[b]corruption; ^(A)for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into ^[c]bondage. ²⁰ For if, after they ^(B)have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are ^(C)again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. ²¹ For ^(D)it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: ^(E)“A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”

⁶ Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as ^(A)they also lusted. ^7 (B)And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, ^(C)“The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” ^8 (D)Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as ^(E)some of them did, and ^(F)in one day twenty-three thousand fell; ⁹ nor let us ^[a]tempt Christ, as ^(G)some of them also tempted, and ^(H)were destroyed by serpents; ¹⁰ nor complain, as ^(I)some of them also complained, and ^(J)were destroyed by ^(K)the destroyer. ¹¹ Now ^[b]all these things happened to them as examples, and ^(L)they were written for our ^[c]admonition, ^(M)upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

¹² Therefore ^(N)let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

¹⁷ So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that ^[a]he said, ^(A)“Escape for your life! ^(B)Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape ^(C)to the mountains, lest you be ^[b]destroyed.”
