¹² And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers,^{[a] (A)}who stood at a distance

⁴⁵ “The leprous person who has the disease shall wear torn clothes and ^(A)let the hair of his head hang loose, and he shall ^(B)cover his upper lip^[a] and cry out, ^(C)‘Unclean, unclean.’ ⁴⁶ He shall remain unclean as long as he has the disease. He is unclean. He shall live alone. His dwelling shall be ^(D)outside the camp.

¹³ But the tax collector, ^(A)standing far off, ^(B)would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but ^(C)beat his breast, saying, ‘God, ^(D)be merciful to me, a sinner!’

Jesus Cleanses a Leper

¹² While he was in one of the cities, ^(A)there came a man full of leprosy.^[a] And when he saw Jesus, he ^(B)fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, ^(C)if you will, you can make me clean.”

²⁰ And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead! And they rushed him out quickly, and he himself hurried to go out, because the Lord had struck him. ^21 (A)And King Uzziah was a leper to the day of his death, and being a leper lived ^(B)in a separate house, for he was excluded from the house of the Lord. And Jotham his son was over the king's household, governing the people of the land.

The Syrians Flee

³ Now there were four men who were lepers^{[a] (A)}at the entrance to the gate. And they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die?

²⁷ Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and to your descendants forever.” So he went out from his presence ^(A)a leper, like snow.

² “Command the people of Israel that they ^(A)put out of the camp everyone who is leprous^[a] or has ^(B)a discharge and everyone who is ^(C)unclean through contact with the dead. ³ You shall put out both male and female, putting them outside the camp, that they may not defile their camp, ^(D)in the midst of which I dwell.”

¹⁴ But the Lord said to Moses, “If her father had but ^(A)spit in her face, should she not be shamed seven days? Let her be ^(B)shut outside the camp seven days, and after that she may be brought in again.”
