“And on that day,” declares the Lord God,
    (A)“I will make the sun go down at noon
    and darken the earth in broad daylight.
10 (B)I will turn your feasts into mourning
    and all your songs into lamentation;
(C)I will bring sackcloth on every waist
    (D)and baldness on every head;
(E)I will make it like the mourning for an only son
    and the end of it like a bitter day.

11 “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord God,
    “when (F)I will send a famine on the land—
not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water,
    (G)but of hearing the words of the Lord.
12 (H)They shall wander from sea to sea,
    and from north to east;
they shall run to and fro, to seek the word of the Lord,
    (I)but they shall not find it.

Therefore (A)I will take back
    my grain in its time,
    and my wine in its season,
and (B)I will take away my wool and my flax,
    which were to cover her nakedness.
10 Now (C)I will uncover her lewdness
    in the sight of her lovers,
    and no one shall rescue her out of my hand.
11 (D)And I will put an end to all her mirth,
    her feasts, her (E)new moons, her (F)Sabbaths,
    and all her (G)appointed feasts.
12 And (H)I will lay waste her vines and her fig trees,
    (I)of which she said,
‘These are (J)my wages,
    which my lovers have given me.’
I will make them a forest,
    (K)and the beasts of the field shall devour them.
13 And (L)I will punish her for (M)the feast days of the Baals
    when she burned offerings to them
and (N)adorned herself with her ring and jewelry,
    and went after her lovers
    and forgot me, declares the Lord.
