³² He replied, “Go tell that fox, ‘I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.’^(A)

¹⁰ In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists,^(A) should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.^(B)

⁹ and, once made perfect,^(A) he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him

⁸ “But Rabbi,”^(A) they said, “a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone you,^(B) and yet you are going back?”

⁹ Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Anyone who walks in the daytime will not stumble, for they see by this world’s light.^{(C) 10} It is when a person walks at night that they stumble, for they have no light.”

³² but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”

⁴ Your prophets, Israel, are like jackals among ruins.

²⁸ For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness;^(A) but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son,^(B) who has been made perfect^(C) forever.

⁸ When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him.^(A) From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform a sign of some sort. ⁹ He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.^{(B) 10} The chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing him. ¹¹ Then Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked him. Dressing him in an elegant robe,^(C) they sent him back to Pilate.

⁷ Now Herod^(A) the tetrarch heard about all that was going on. And he was perplexed because some were saying that John^(B) had been raised from the dead,^{(C) 8} others that Elijah had appeared,^(D) and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had come back to life.^{(E) 9} But Herod said, “I beheaded John. Who, then, is this I hear such things about?” And he tried to see him.^(F)
