^33 (A)Sell what you have and give ^(B)alms; ^(C)provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys.

²¹ Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, ^(A)go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

²² So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. ^(A)Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

⁴⁵ and ^[a]sold their possessions and goods, and ^(A)divided^[b] them among all, as anyone had need.

³⁴ Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; ^(A)for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, ^35 (B)and laid them at the apostles’ feet; ^(C)and they distributed to each as anyone had need.

²¹ “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, ^(A)and is not rich toward God.”

Lay Up Treasures in Heaven^(A)

^19 (B)“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; ^20 (C)but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. ²¹ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

⁹ “And I say to you, ^(A)make friends for yourselves by unrighteous ^[a]mammon, that when ^[b]you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home.

Instructions to the Rich

¹⁷ Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain ^(A)riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things ^(B)to enjoy. ¹⁸ Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, ^19 (C)storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
