²⁸ And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.”^(A)

¹¹ I gave them my statutes and showed them my ordinances, by whose observance everyone shall live.^(A)

⁵ You shall keep my statutes and my ordinances; by doing so one shall live: I am the Lord.^(A)

¹⁷ And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is one who is good. If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

²⁹ And you warned them in order to turn them back to your law, yet they acted presumptuously and did not obey your commandments but sinned against your ordinances, by the observance of which a person shall live. They turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey.

¹² But the law does not rest on faith; on the contrary, “Whoever does the works of the law^[a] will live by them.”^(A)

⁴ For Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.^(A)

¹⁹ Now we know that, whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world may be held accountable to God.^(A)

⁴³ Simon answered, “I suppose the one for whom he canceled the greater debt.” And Jesus^[a] said to him, “You have judged rightly.”

³⁴ When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” After that no one dared to ask him any question.^(A)
