¹⁹ Behold, I have given you authority ^(A)to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of ^(B)the enemy, and ^(C)nothing shall hurt you.

^18 (A)they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; ^(B)they will lay their hands ^(C)on the sick, and they will recover.”

^20 (A)The God of peace ^(B)will soon crush Satan under your feet. ^(C)The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

⁵ He, however, ^(A)shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.

⁵ And if anyone would harm them, ^(A)fire pours from their mouth and consumes their foes. If anyone would harm them, ^(B)this is how he is doomed to be killed.

⁵ Keep your life ^(A)free from love of money, and ^(B)be content with what you have, for he has said, ^(C)“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” ⁶ So we can confidently say,

^17 (A)You will be hated by all for my name's sake. ¹⁸ But ^(B)not a hair of your head will perish.

⁶ And you, son of man, ^(A)be not afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, ^(B)though briers and thorns are with you and you sit on ^(C)scorpions.^[a] Be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.
