Jesus Before Pilate
23 (A)Then the whole company of them arose and brought him before Pilate. 2 And they began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man (B)misleading our nation and (C)forbidding us to give tribute to (D)Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, (E)a king.” 3 (F)And Pilate asked him, (G)“Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, (H)“You have said so.” 4 Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, (I)“I find no guilt in this man.” 5 But they were urgent, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, (J)from Galilee even to this place.”
Jesus Before Herod
6 When Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean. 7 And when he learned that he belonged to (K)Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him over to Herod, who was himself in Jerusalem at that time. 8 When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, (L)for he had long desired to see him, (M)because he had heard about him, and he was hoping (N)to see some sign done by him. 9 So he questioned him at some length, but he made no answer. 10 The chief priests and the scribes stood by, vehemently accusing him. 11 And Herod with his soldiers (O)treated him with contempt and (P)mocked him. Then, (Q)arraying him in splendid clothing, he sent him back to Pilate. 12 And (R)Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before this they had been at enmity with each other.
13 Pilate then called together the chief priests and (S)the rulers and the people, 14 and said to them, “You brought me this man (T)as one who was misleading the people. And (U)after examining him before you, behold, I (V)did not find this man guilty of any of your charges against him. 15 Neither did Herod, for (W)he sent him back to us. Look, nothing deserving death has been done by him. 16 (X)I will therefore punish and release him.”[a]
Pilate Delivers Jesus to Be Crucified
18 (Y)But they all cried out together, (Z)“Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas”— 19 a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city and (AA)for murder. 20 Pilate addressed them once more, desiring to release Jesus, 21 but they kept shouting, “Crucify, crucify him!” 22 A third time he said to them, “Why? (AB)What evil has he done? (AC)I have found in him no guilt deserving death. (AD)I will therefore punish and release him.” 23 But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed. 24 So Pilate decided that their demand should be granted. 25 He released the man who had been thrown into prison (AE)for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, (AF)but he delivered Jesus over to their will.
The Crucifixion
26 (AG)And as they led him away, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus. 27 And there followed him a great multitude of the people and of women who were (AH)mourning and lamenting for him. 28 But turning to them Jesus said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For behold, (AI)the days are coming when they will say, (AJ)‘Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ 30 (AK)Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’ 31 For (AL)if they do these things when (AM)the wood is green, what will happen (AN)when it is dry?”
32 (AO)Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him. 33 (AP)And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, (AQ)one on his right and one on his left. 34 And Jesus said, “Father, (AR)forgive them, (AS)for they know not what they do.”[b] And they cast lots (AT)to divide his garments. 35 And (AU)the people stood by, watching, (AV)but (AW)the rulers (AX)scoffed at him, saying, (AY)“He saved others; (AZ)let him save himself, (BA)if he is (BB)the Christ of God, (BC)his Chosen One!” 36 The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and (BD)offering him sour wine 37 and saying, (BE)“If you are (BF)the King of the Jews, save yourself!” 38 (BG)There was also an inscription over him,[c] “This is (BH)the King of the Jews.”
39 (BI)One of the criminals who were hanged (BJ)railed at him,[d] saying, “Are you not (BK)the Christ? Save yourself and us!” 40 But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he said, “Jesus, remember me (BL)when you come into your kingdom.” 43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in (BM)paradise.”
The Death of Jesus
44 (BN)It was now about the sixth hour,[e] and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour,[f] 45 while the sun's light failed. And (BO)the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46 Then Jesus, (BP)calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, (BQ)into your hands I (BR)commit my spirit!” And having said this (BS)he breathed his last. 47 Now (BT)when the centurion saw what had taken place, (BU)he praised God, saying, “Certainly this man was innocent!” 48 And all the crowds that had assembled for this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, returned home (BV)beating their breasts. 49 And all (BW)his acquaintances and (BX)the women who had followed him from Galilee (BY)stood at a distance watching these things.
Jesus Is Buried
50 (BZ)Now there was a man named Joseph, from the Jewish town of Arimathea. He was a member of the council, a good and righteous man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action; and he (CA)was looking for the kingdom of God. 52 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 53 Then he took it down and wrapped it in a linen shroud and (CB)laid him in a tomb cut in stone, (CC)where no one had ever yet been laid. 54 It was the day of (CD)Preparation, and the Sabbath was beginning.[g] 55 (CE)The women (CF)who had come with him from Galilee followed and saw the tomb and how his body was laid. 56 Then they returned and (CG)prepared spices and ointments.
On the Sabbath they rested (CH)according to the commandment.
The Resurrection
24 (CI)But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, (CJ)taking the spices they had prepared. 2 And they found (CK)the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, (CL)two (CM)men stood by them in dazzling apparel. 5 And as they were (CN)frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, (CO)while he was still in Galilee, 7 (CP)that the Son of Man (CQ)must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and (CR)be crucified and on (CS)the third day rise.” 8 And (CT)they remembered his words, 9 and returning from the tomb they (CU)told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 Now it was (CV)Mary Magdalene and (CW)Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles, 11 but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and (CX)they did not believe them. 12 But (CY)Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw (CZ)the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened.
On the Road to Emmaus
13 That very day (DA)two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles[h] from Jerusalem, 14 and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. 15 While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 (DB)But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 17 And he said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad. 18 Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” 19 And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was (DC)a prophet (DD)mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, 20 and (DE)how our chief priests and (DF)rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21 But we had hoped that he was (DG)the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now (DH)the third day since these things happened. 22 Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. (DI)They were at the tomb early in the morning, 23 and (DJ)when they did not find his body, they came back saying that (DK)they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. 24 (DL)Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see.” 25 And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 (DM)Was it not necessary that (DN)the Christ should suffer these things and enter into (DO)his glory?” 27 And (DP)beginning with (DQ)Moses and (DR)all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
28 So they drew near to the village to which they were going. (DS)He acted as if he were going farther, 29 but they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening and (DT)the day is now far spent.” So he went in to stay with them. 30 When he was at table with them, he took the bread and (DU)blessed and broke it and gave it to them. 31 (DV)And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And (DW)he vanished from their sight. 32 They said to each other, (DX)“Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he (DY)opened to us the Scriptures?” 33 And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they (DZ)found the eleven and (EA)those who were with them gathered together, 34 saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and (EB)has appeared to Simon!” 35 Then they told what had happened on the road, and (EC)how he was known to them in (ED)the breaking of the bread.
Jesus Appears to His Disciples
36 As they were talking about these things, (EE)Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” 37 But they were (EF)startled and (EG)frightened and (EH)thought they saw a spirit. 38 And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. (EI)Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40 And when he had said this, (EJ)he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still disbelieved (EK)for joy and were marveling, (EL)he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish,[i] 43 and he took it and ate before them.
44 Then he said to them, (EM)“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, (EN)that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then (EO)he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus (EP)it is written, (EQ)that the Christ should suffer and on the third day (ER)rise from the dead, 47 and that (ES)repentance for[j] the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed (ET)in his name (EU)to all nations, (EV)beginning from Jerusalem. 48 (EW)You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sending (EX)the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you (EY)are clothed with (EZ)power (FA)from on high.”
The Ascension
50 And (FB)he led them out as far as (FC)Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. 51 While he blessed them, (FD)he parted from them and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they (FE)worshiped him and (FF)returned to Jerusalem (FG)with great joy, 53 and (FH)were continually in the temple (FI)blessing God.

23 Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate.(A) 2 And they began to accuse him, saying, “We have found this man subverting our nation.(B) He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar(C) and claims to be Messiah, a king.”(D)
3 So Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
“You have said so,” Jesus replied.
4 Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”(E)
5 But they insisted, “He stirs up the people all over Judea by his teaching. He started in Galilee(F) and has come all the way here.”
6 On hearing this, Pilate asked if the man was a Galilean.(G) 7 When he learned that Jesus was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod,(H) who was also in Jerusalem at that time.
8 When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him.(I) From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform a sign of some sort. 9 He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.(J) 10 The chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing him. 11 Then Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked him. Dressing him in an elegant robe,(K) they sent him back to Pilate. 12 That day Herod and Pilate became friends(L)—before this they had been enemies.
13 Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people, 14 and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him.(M) 15 Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death. 16 Therefore, I will punish him(N) and then release him.” [17] [a]
18 But the whole crowd shouted, “Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!”(O) 19 (Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)
20 Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again. 21 But they kept shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
22 For the third time he spoke to them: “Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him.”(P)
23 But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. 24 So Pilate decided to grant their demand. 25 He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.
The Crucifixion of Jesus(Q)
26 As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene,(R) who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.(S) 27 A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed(T) for him. 28 Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.(U) 29 For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’(V) 30 Then
31 For if people do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”(X)
32 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed.(Y) 33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, “Father,(Z) forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[c](AA) And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.(AB)
35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him.(AC) They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”(AD)

38 There was a written notice above him, which read: this is the king of the jews.(AH)
39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”(AI)
40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”(AJ)
42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[d]”(AK)
43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”(AL)
The Death of Jesus(AM)
44 It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon,(AN) 45 for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple(AO) was torn in two.(AP) 46 Jesus called out with a loud voice,(AQ) “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”[e](AR) When he had said this, he breathed his last.(AS)
47 The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God(AT) and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.” 48 When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts(AU) and went away. 49 But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee,(AV) stood at a distance,(AW) watching these things.
The Burial of Jesus(AX)
50 Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God.(AY) 52 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. 53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. 54 It was Preparation Day,(AZ) and the Sabbath was about to begin.
55 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee(BA) followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. 56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes.(BB) But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.(BC)
Jesus Has Risen(BD)
24 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared(BE) and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.(BF) 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning(BG) stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:(BH) 7 ‘The Son of Man(BI) must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”(BJ) 8 Then they remembered his words.(BK)
9 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them(BL) who told this to the apostles.(BM) 11 But they did not believe(BN) the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves,(BO) and he went away,(BP) wondering to himself what had happened.

They stood still, their faces downcast. 18 One of them, named Cleopas,(BT) asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”
19 “What things?” he asked.
“About Jesus of Nazareth,”(BU) they replied. “He was a prophet,(BV) powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20 The chief priests and our rulers(BW) handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21 but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel.(BX) And what is more, it is the third day(BY) since all this took place. 22 In addition, some of our women amazed us.(BZ) They went to the tomb early this morning 23 but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”(CA)
25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”(CB) 27 And beginning with Moses(CC) and all the Prophets,(CD) he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.(CE)
28 As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. 29 But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.
30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it(CF) and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him,(CG) and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us(CH) while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures(CI) to us?”
33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, “It is true! The Lord(CJ) has risen and has appeared to Simon.”(CK) 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.(CL)

44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you:(CQ) Everything must be fulfilled(CR) that is written about me in the Law of Moses,(CS) the Prophets(CT) and the Psalms.”(CU)
45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer(CV) and rise from the dead on the third day,(CW) 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name(CX) to all nations,(CY) beginning at Jerusalem.(CZ) 48 You are witnesses(DA) of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised;(DB) but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
The Ascension of Jesus
50 When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany,(DC) he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.(DD) 52 Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53 And they stayed continually at the temple,(DE) praising God.

Laws Concerning Divorce
24 “When a man takes a wife and marries her, if then she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and (A)he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, and she departs out of his house, 2 and if she goes and becomes another man's wife, 3 and the latter man hates her and writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, or if the latter man dies, who took her to be his wife, 4 then (B)her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after she has been defiled, for that is an abomination before the Lord. And you shall not bring sin upon the land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance.

5 (C)“When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be liable for any other public duty. He shall be free at home one year (D)to be happy with his wife[a] whom he has taken.
6 “No one shall take a mill or an upper millstone in pledge, for that would be taking a life in pledge.

14 “You shall not (N)oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the sojourners who are in your land within your towns. 15 (O)You shall give him his wages on the same day, before the sun sets (for he is poor and counts on it), (P)lest he cry against you to the Lord, and you be guilty of sin.
16 (Q)“Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin.
17 (R)“You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or to the fatherless, (S)or take a widow's garment in pledge, 18 but (T)you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this.
19 (U)“When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, (V)that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. 20 When you beat your olive trees, you shall not go over them again. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow. 21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not strip it afterward. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow. 22 (W)You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this.

24 If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him(A) because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce,(B) gives it to her and sends her from his house, 2 and if after she leaves his house she becomes the wife of another man, 3 and her second husband dislikes her and writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, or if he dies, 4 then her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled. That would be detestable in the eyes of the Lord. Do not bring sin upon the land the Lord(C) your God is giving you as an inheritance.
5 If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.(D)
6 Do not take a pair of millstones—not even the upper one—as security for a debt, because that would be taking a person’s livelihood as security.(E)
7 If someone is caught kidnapping a fellow Israelite and treating or selling them as a slave, the kidnapper must die.(F) You must purge the evil from among you.(G)
8 In cases of defiling skin diseases,[a] be very careful to do exactly as the Levitical(H) priests instruct you. You must follow carefully what I have commanded them.(I) 9 Remember what the Lord your God did to Miriam along the way after you came out of Egypt.(J)
10 When you make a loan of any kind to your neighbor, do not go into their house to get what is offered to you as a pledge.(K) 11 Stay outside and let the neighbor to whom you are making the loan bring the pledge out to you. 12 If the neighbor is poor, do not go to sleep with their pledge(L) in your possession. 13 Return their cloak by sunset(M) so that your neighbor may sleep in it.(N) Then they will thank you, and it will be regarded as a righteous act in the sight of the Lord your God.(O)
14 Do not take advantage of a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether that worker is a fellow Israelite or a foreigner residing in one of your towns.(P) 15 Pay them their wages each day before sunset, because they are poor(Q) and are counting on it.(R) Otherwise they may cry to the Lord against you, and you will be guilty of sin.(S)
16 Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.(T)
17 Do not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless(U) of justice,(V) or take the cloak of the widow as a pledge. 18 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt(W) and the Lord your God redeemed you from there. That is why I command you to do this.

53 (B)The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, doing abominable iniquity;
there is none who does good.
2 God looks down from heaven
on the children of man
to see if there are any who understand,[b]
who seek after God.
3 They have all fallen away;
together they have become corrupt;
there is none who does good,
not even one.
4 Have those who work evil no knowledge,
who eat up my people as they eat bread,
and do not call upon God?
5 There they are, in great terror,
(C)where there is no terror!
For God (D)scatters the bones of him who encamps against you;
you put them to shame, for God has rejected them.
6 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When God restores the fortunes of his people,
let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
