Redemption Rights for Poor Brothers

35 (A)Now if a brother of yours becomes poor and his [a]means with regard to you falter, then you are to sustain him, like a sojourner or a foreign resident, that he may live with you. 36 (B)Do not take [b]usurious interest from him, but fear your God, that your brother may live with you. 37 You shall not give him your silver at interest nor your food for gain. 38 (C)I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and (D)to be your God.

35 “If your relative becomes so poor that he is indebted to you,[a] then you are to support him. You are to let him live with you just like the resident alien and the traveler. 36 You are not to take interest or profit from him. Instead, you are to fear your God and let your relative live with you. 37 You are not to loan him money with interest or sell him your food at a profit. 38 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.
