²⁶ And ^(A)you are not to eat any blood, either of bird or animal, in any of your dwellings. ²⁷ Any person who eats any blood, that person shall also be cut off from his people.’”

²⁸ Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ²⁹ “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘He who offers ^(B)the sacrifice of his peace offerings to the Lord shall bring his offering to the Lord from the sacrifice of his peace offerings. ³⁰ His own hands are to bring offerings by fire to the Lord. He shall bring the fat with the breast, so that the ^(C)breast may be ^[a]presented as a wave offering before the Lord. ³¹ And the priest shall offer up the fat in smoke on the altar, but ^(D)the breast shall belong to Aaron and to his sons. ³² And you shall give ^(E)the right thigh to the priest as a ^[b]contribution from the sacrifices of your peace offerings. ³³ The one among the sons of Aaron who offers the blood of the peace offerings and the fat, the right thigh shall be his as his portion. ³⁴ For I have taken from the sons of Israel ^(F)the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the ^[c]contribution from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, and have given them to Aaron the priest and to his sons as their allotted portion forever from the sons of Israel.

³⁵ ‘This is the ^(G)allotment to Aaron and the allotment to his sons from the offerings by fire to the Lord, on that day when he presented them to serve as priests to the Lord. ^36 [d]These the Lord had commanded to be given them from the sons of Israel on the day that He ^(H)anointed them. It is their allotted portion forever throughout their generations.’”

³⁷ This is the law of the burnt offering, the grain offering, the sin offering and the guilt offering, and ^(I)the ordination offering and the sacrifice of peace offerings, ^38 (J)which the Lord commanded Moses on Mount Sinai on the day that He commanded the sons of Israel to ^[e]present their offerings to the Lord in the wilderness of Sinai.

¹⁰ ‘^(A)And anyone from the house of Israel, or from the strangers who reside among them, who eats any blood, ^(B)I will set My face against that person who eats the blood, and will cut him off from among his people. ¹¹ For ^(C)the ^[a]life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for ^(D)it is the blood by reason of the ^[b]life that makes atonement.’ ¹² Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, ‘No person among you may eat blood, nor may any stranger who resides among you eat blood.’ ¹³ So when anyone from the sons of Israel, or from the strangers who reside among them, ^[c]while hunting catches an animal or a bird which may be eaten, ^(E)he shall pour out its blood and cover it with dirt.

¹⁴ “^(F)For as for the ^[d]life of all flesh, its blood is identified with its ^[e]life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, ‘You are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the ^[f]life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.’ ¹⁵ And ^(G)any person who eats an animal which dies or is torn by animals, whether he is a native or a stranger, shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and remain unclean until evening; then he will become clean. ¹⁶ But if he does not wash his clothes and bathe his body, then ^(H)he shall bear the responsibility for his ^[g]guilt.”

²⁶ ‘You shall not eat any meat ^(A)with the blood. You shall not practice ^(B)divination nor soothsaying.

^16 (A)Only you shall not eat the blood; ^(B)you are to pour it out on the ground like water.

²³ Only be sure ^(A)not to eat the blood, for the blood is the ^[a]life, and you shall not eat the ^[b]life with the flesh.
