²⁵ Thus the land became defiled, and I punished it for its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.^(A)

²⁸ otherwise the land will vomit you out for defiling it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.

²² “You shall keep all my statutes and all my ordinances and observe them, so that the land to which I bring you to settle in may not vomit you out.^{(A) 23} You shall not follow the practices of the nation that I am driving out before you. Because they did all these things, I abhorred them.^(B)

³³ You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no expiation can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it.^{(A) 34} You shall not defile the land in which you live, in which I also dwell, for I the Lord dwell among the Israelites.”^(B)

¹⁷ Mortal, when the house of Israel lived on their own soil, they defiled it with their ways and their deeds; their conduct in my sight was like the uncleanness of a menstrual period.^{(A) 18} So I poured out my wrath upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land and for the idols with which they had defiled it.^(B)

² Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the shepherds who shepherd my people: It is you who have scattered my flock and have driven them away, and you have not attended to them. So I will attend to you for your evil doings, says the Lord.
