Have fallen by the sword.
You have put them to death on the day of Your anger,
You have slaughtered, ^(C)without sparing.

⁷ Her ^[a]consecrated ones were ^(A)purer than snow,
They shined more than milk;
They were more ruddy in ^[b]body than pearls of coral,
Their form was like ^[c](B)lapis lazuli.

⁸ Their appearance is ^(A)darker than soot,
They are not recognized in the streets;
Their ^(B)skin is shriveled on their bones,
It is dry, it has become like wood.

¹⁰ Our skin has become as ^(A)hot as an oven,
Because of the ravages of hunger.
