⁹ but now this is the thing which we will do to Gibeah: We will go up ^(A)against it by lot.

²⁶ And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

⁷ And they said to one another, “Come, let us ^(A)cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this trouble has come upon us.” So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah.

The People Dwelling in Jerusalem

11 Now the leaders of the people dwelt at Jerusalem; the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of ten to dwell in Jerusalem, ^(A)the holy city, and nine-tenths were to dwell in other cities.

⁵ Thus they were divided by lot, one group as another, for there were officials of the sanctuary and officials of the house of God, from the sons of Eleazar and from the sons of Ithamar.

⁴¹ Therefore Saul said to the Lord God of Israel, ^(A)“Give^[a] a perfect lot.” ^(B)So Saul and Jonathan were taken, but the people escaped. ⁴² And Saul said, “Cast lots between my son Jonathan and me.” So Jonathan was taken.
