¹³ They forsook the Lord ^(A)and served ^[a]Baal and the ^[b]Ashtoreths.

Israel Oppressed Again

⁶ Then ^(A)the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord, and ^(B)served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, ^(C)the gods of Syria, the gods of ^(D)Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the people of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook the Lord and did not serve Him.

⁷ So the children of Israel did ^(A)evil in the sight of the Lord. They ^(B)forgot the Lord their God, and served the Baals and ^[a]Asherahs.

²⁰ Rather, that the things which the Gentiles ^(A)sacrifice ^(B)they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. ^21 (C)You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and ^(D)the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the ^(E)Lord’s table and of the table of demons. ²² Or do we ^(F)provoke the Lord to jealousy? ^(G)Are we stronger than He?

⁵ For even if there are ^(A)so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords),

¹³ Then the king defiled the ^[a]high places that were east of Jerusalem, which were on the ^[b]south of ^[c]the Mount of Corruption, which ^(A)Solomon king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the people of Ammon.

^33 (A)because ^[a]they have forsaken Me, and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the people of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways to do what is right in My eyes and keep My statutes and My judgments, as did his father David.

⁵ For Solomon went after ^(A)Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after ^(B)Milcom^[a] the abomination of the ^(C)Ammonites.
