²⁵ The spirit of the Lord began to stir him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.^(A)

¹⁰ The spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel; he went out to war, and the Lord gave King Cushan-rishathaim of Aram into his hand, and his hand prevailed over Cushan-rishathaim.^(A)

³³ And in the lowland, Eshtaol, Zorah, Ashnah,^(A)

³⁴ He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure.^(A)

The Testing of Jesus

4 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tested by the devil.

⁶ And the spirit of God came upon Saul in power when he heard these words, and his anger was greatly kindled.^(A)

¹¹ Six hundred men of the Danite clan, armed with weapons of war, set out from Zorah and Eshtaol ¹² and went up and encamped at Kiriath-jearim in Judah. On this account that place is called Mahaneh-dan^[a] to this day; it is west of Kiriath-jearim.^(A)

Jephthah’s Vow

²⁹ Then the spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh. He passed on to Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he passed on to the Ammonites.^(A)

³⁴ But the spirit of the Lord took possession of Gideon, and he sounded the trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called out to follow him.^(A)
