Joshua 8:28-30
New International Version
28 So Joshua burned(A) Ai[a](B) and made it a permanent heap of ruins,(C) a desolate place to this day.(D) 29 He impaled the body of the king of Ai on a pole and left it there until evening. At sunset,(E) Joshua ordered them to take the body from the pole and throw it down at the entrance of the city gate. And they raised a large pile of rocks(F) over it, which remains to this day.
The Covenant Renewed at Mount Ebal
30 Then Joshua built on Mount Ebal(G) an altar(H) to the Lord, the God of Israel,

28 So Joshua burned Ai and destroyed it forever, as it is to this day. 29 He hanged the king of Ai on a tree until evening. When the sun went down, Joshua had them take his body down from the tree and throw it down at the gate of the city. They put many stones over it, and they are there to this day.
30 Then Joshua built an altar to the Lord, the God of Israel, at Mount Ebal.
