¹⁶ “This is what the whole congregation of the Lord says: ‘What is this unfaithful act which you have committed against the God of Israel, turning away from following the Lord this day, by ^(A)building yourselves an altar, to rebel against the Lord this day?

¹³ But Samuel said to Saul, “^(A)You have acted foolishly! ^(B)You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you, for the Lord would now have established your kingdom ^[a]over Israel ^(C)forever.

⁶ “^(A)But if you or your sons indeed turn away from following Me, and do not keep My commandments and My statutes which I have placed before you, but you go and serve other gods and worship them, ^7 (B)then I will cut Israel off from the land which I have given them, and ^(C)the house which I have consecrated for My name, I will ^[a]expel from My sight. So ^(D)Israel will become a saying and an object of derision among all peoples.
