¹⁸ Then the Lord said to Joshua, ^(A)“Stretch out the javelin that is in your hand toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand.” And Joshua stretched out the javelin that was in his hand toward the city.

²⁶ But Joshua did not draw back his hand with which he ^(A)stretched out the javelin until he had devoted all the inhabitants of Ai to destruction.^[a]

⁴⁵ Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with ^(A)a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, ^(B)whom you have defied.

⁴¹ And the Philistine moved forward and came near to David, ^(A)with his shield-bearer in front of him.

⁶ And he had bronze armor on his legs, and a ^(A)javelin of bronze slung between his shoulders.

⁷ Then you shall rise up from the ambush and seize the city, for the Lord your God will give it into your hand.

⁹ So Moses said to ^(A)Joshua, “Choose for us men, and go out and fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with ^(B)the staff of God in my hand.” ¹⁰ So ^(C)Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and ^(D)Hur went up to the top of the hill. ¹¹ Whenever Moses ^(E)held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. ¹² But Moses' hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and ^(F)Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

^16 (A)Lift up your staff, and ^(B)stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground.
