¹² Then Joshua rose early in the morning, and ^(A)the priests took up the ark of the Lord.

⁷ By faith ^(A)Noah, being warned by God concerning ^(B)events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of ^(C)the righteousness that comes by faith.

⁸ By faith ^(D)Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place ^(E)that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

Israel Crosses the Jordan

3 Then Joshua rose early in the morning and they set out ^(A)from Shittim. And they came to the Jordan, he and all the people of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.

¹⁰ Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” ^(A)Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. ¹¹ Jesus then took the loaves, and ^(B)when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted.

⁶ So Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the Lord.” ⁷ And he said to the people, “Go forward. March around the city and let ^(A)the armed men pass on before the ark of the Lord.”

⁸ And just as Joshua had commanded the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns before the Lord went forward, blowing the trumpets, with the ark of the covenant of the Lord following them.

²⁵ Moses commanded ^(A)the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord,

³ So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.

⁶ Having said these things, ^(A)he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. ^(B)Then he anointed the man's eyes with the mud ⁷ and said to him, “Go, wash in ^(C)the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). So he went and washed and ^(D)came back seeing.

⁵ His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

⁶ Now there were six stone water jars there ^(A)for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty ^(B)gallons.^{[a] 7} Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. ⁸ And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it.
