¹⁵ And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, ^(A)choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether ^(B)the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of ^[a]the River, or ^(C)the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. ^(D)But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

²¹ And Elijah came to all the people, and said, ^(A)“How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, ^(B)follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.

⁶⁷ Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”

⁶⁸ But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have ^(A)the words of eternal life.

¹⁵ And she said, “Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to ^(A)her people and to her gods; ^(B)return after your sister-in-law.”

¹⁶ But Ruth said:

³⁹ “As for you, O house of Israel,” thus says the Lord God: ^(A)“Go, serve every one of you his idols—and hereafter—if you will not obey Me; ^(B)but profane My holy name no more with your gifts and your idols.

¹⁸ so that there may not be among you man or woman or family or tribe, ^(A)whose heart turns away today from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations, ^(B)and that there may not be among you a root bearing ^(C)bitterness or wormwood;

¹⁰ Also I said to you, “I am the Lord your God; ^(A)do not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.” But you have not obeyed My ^(B)voice.’ ”

^32 (A)You shall make no ^[a]covenant with them, nor with their gods. ³³ They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, ^(B)it will surely be a snare to you.”

²⁴ You shall not ^(A)bow down to their gods, nor serve them, ^(B)nor do according to their works; ^(C)but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars.
