^15 (A)And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, ^(B)choose this day whom you will serve, whether ^(C)the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or ^(D)the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. ^(E)But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

²¹ And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long ^(A)will you go limping between two different opinions? ^(B)If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” And the people did not answer him a word.

⁶⁷ So Jesus said to ^(A)the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” ⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have ^(B)the words of eternal life,

¹⁵ And she said, “See, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to ^(A)her gods; return after your sister-in-law.” ¹⁶ But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. ^(B)Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.

¹⁸ Beware lest there be among you a man or woman or clan or tribe whose heart is turning away today from the Lord our God to go and serve the gods of those nations. Beware lest there be among you ^(A)a root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit,

³⁹ “As for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Lord God: ^(A)Go serve every one of you his idols, now and hereafter, if you will not listen to me; ^(B)but my holy name you shall no more profane with your gifts and your idols.

^32 (A)You shall make no covenant with them and their gods. ³³ They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods, ^(B)it will surely be a snare to you.”

²³ When he came and saw ^(A)the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord ^(B)with steadfast purpose,

¹⁰ And I said to you, ‘I am the Lord your God; ^(A)you shall not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.’ But you have not obeyed my voice.”

²⁴ you shall ^(A)not bow down to their gods nor serve them, ^(B)nor do as they do, but ^(C)you shall utterly overthrow them and break their ^(D)pillars in pieces.
