^21 (A)all the cities of the plain and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, ^(B)whom Moses had struck ^(C)with the princes of Midian: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, who were princes of Sihon dwelling in the country.

⁸ They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of those who were killed—^(A)Evi, Rekem, ^(B)Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. ^(C)Balaam the son of Beor they also killed with the sword.

^10 (A)all the cities of the plain, all Gilead, and ^(B)all Bashan, as far as Salcah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

^30 (A)“But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass through, for ^(B)the Lord your God ^(C)hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that He might deliver him into your hand, as it is this day.

³¹ “And the Lord said to me, ‘See, I have begun to ^(D)give Sihon and his land over to you. Begin to possess it, that you may inherit his land.’ ^32 (E)Then Sihon and all his people came out against us to fight at Jahaz. ³³ And ^(F)the Lord our God delivered him ^[a]over to us; so ^(G)we defeated him, his sons, and all his people. ³⁴ We took all his cities at that time, and we ^(H)utterly destroyed the men, women, and little ones of every city; we left none remaining. ³⁵ We took only the livestock as plunder for ourselves, with the spoil of the cities which we took. ^36 (I)From Aroer, which is on the bank of the River Arnon, and from ^(J)the city that is in the ravine, as far as Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us; ^(K)the Lord our God delivered all to us.

²⁴ Then ^(A)Israel defeated him with the edge of the sword, and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as the people of Ammon; for the border of the people of Ammon was fortified. ²⁵ So Israel took all these cities, and Israel ^(B)dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all its villages. ²⁶ For Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon. ²⁷ Therefore those who speak in ^[a]proverbs say:

³¹ Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites. ³² Then Moses sent to ^[b]spy out ^(L)Jazer; and they took its villages and drove out the Amorites who were there.

King Og Defeated^(M)

^33 (N)And they turned and went up by the way to ^(O)Bashan. So Og king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle ^(P)at Edrei. ³⁴ Then the Lord said to Moses, ^(Q)“Do not fear him, for I have ^[c]delivered him into your hand, with all his people and his land; and ^(R)you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.” ^35 (S)So they defeated him, his sons, and all his people, until there was no survivor left him; and they took possession of his land.
