29 And (A)I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, 30 that (B)you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, (C)and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(D)

31 [a]And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, (E)Satan has asked for you, that he may (F)sift you as wheat. 32 But (G)I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, (H)strengthen your brethren.”

33 But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.”

34 (I)Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”

Supplies for the Road

35 (J)And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?”

So they said, “Nothing.”

36 Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. 37 For I say to you that this which is written must still be [b]accomplished in Me: (K)‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For the things concerning Me have an end.”

38 So they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.”

And He said to them, “It is enough.”

The Prayer in the Garden(L)

39 (M)Coming out, (N)He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. 40 (O)When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

41 (P)And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless (Q)not My will, but Yours, be done.”

The Land Divided East of the Jordan

With the other half-tribe the Reubenites and the Gadites received their inheritance, (A)which Moses had given them, (B)beyond the Jordan eastward, as Moses the servant of the Lord had given them: from Aroer which is on the bank of the River Arnon, and the town that is in the midst of the ravine, (C)and all the plain of Medeba as far as Dibon; 10 (D)all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, as far as the border of the children of Ammon; 11 (E)Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salcah; 12 all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, who remained of (F)the remnant of the giants; (G)for Moses had [a]defeated and [b]cast out these.

13 Nevertheless the children of Israel (H)did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maachathites, but the Geshurites and the Maachathites dwell among the Israelites until this day.

14 (I)Only to the tribe of Levi he had given [c]no inheritance; the sacrifices of the Lord God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance, (J)as He said to them.

The Land of Reuben

15 (K)And Moses had given to the tribe of the children of Reuben an inheritance according to their families. 16 Their territory was (L)from Aroer, which is on the bank of the River Arnon, (M)and the city that is in the midst of the ravine, (N)and all the plain by Medeba; 17 (O)Heshbon and all its cities that are in the plain: Dibon, Bamoth Baal, Beth Baal Meon, 18 (P)Jahaza, Kedemoth, Mephaath, 19 (Q)Kirjathaim, (R)Sibmah, Zereth Shahar on the mountain of the valley, 20 Beth Peor, (S)the slopes of Pisgah, and Beth Jeshimoth— 21 (T)all the cities of the plain and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, (U)whom Moses had struck (V)with the princes of Midian: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, who were princes of Sihon dwelling in the country. 22 The children of Israel also killed with the sword (W)Balaam the son of Beor, the [d]soothsayer, among those who were killed by them. 23 And the border of the children of Reuben was the bank of the Jordan. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben according to their families, the cities and their villages.

The Land of Gad

24 (X)Moses also had given an inheritance to the tribe of Gad, to the children of Gad according to their families. 25 (Y)Their territory was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, (Z)and half the land of the Ammonites as far as Aroer, which is before (AA)Rabbah, 26 and from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpah and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir, 27 and in the valley (AB)Beth Haram, Beth Nimrah, (AC)Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, with the Jordan as its border, as far as the edge (AD)of the [e]Sea of Chinnereth, on the other side of the Jordan eastward. 28 This is the inheritance of the children of Gad according to their families, the cities and their villages.

Half the Tribe of Manasseh (East)

29 (AE)Moses also had given an inheritance to half the tribe of Manasseh; it was for half the tribe of the children of Manasseh according to their families: 30 Their territory was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and (AF)all the towns of Jair which are in Bashan, sixty cities; 31 half of Gilead, and (AG)Ashtaroth and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were for the (AH)children of Machir the son of Manasseh, for half of the children of Machir according to their families.

32 These are the areas which Moses had [f]distributed as an inheritance in the plains of Moab on the other side of the Jordan, by Jericho eastward.

The Land East of the Jordan Divided(D)

12 “And this (E)land, which we possessed at that time, (F)from Aroer, which is by the River Arnon, and half the mountains of Gilead and (G)its cities, I gave to the Reubenites and the Gadites. 13 (H)The rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to half the tribe of Manasseh. (All the region of Argob, with all Bashan, was called the land of the [b]giants. 14 (I)Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob, (J)as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and (K)called Bashan after his own name, [c]Havoth Jair, to this day.)

15 “Also I gave (L)Gilead to Machir. 16 And to the Reubenites (M)and the Gadites I gave from Gilead as far as the River Arnon, the middle of the river as the border, as far as the River Jabbok, (N)the border of the people of Ammon; 17 the plain also, with the Jordan as the border, from Chinnereth (O)as far as the east side of the Sea of the Arabah (P)(the Salt Sea), below the slopes of Pisgah.

24 Then (A)Israel defeated him with the edge of the sword, and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as the people of Ammon; for the border of the people of Ammon was fortified. 25 So Israel took all these cities, and Israel (B)dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all its villages. 26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon. 27 Therefore those who speak in [a]proverbs say:

“Come to Heshbon, let it be built;
Let the city of Sihon be repaired.

28 “For (C)fire went out from Heshbon,
A flame from the city of Sihon;
It consumed (D)Ar of Moab,
The lords of the (E)heights of the Arnon.
29 Woe to you, (F)Moab!
You have perished, O people of (G)Chemosh!
He has given his (H)sons as fugitives,
And his (I)daughters into captivity,
To Sihon king of the Amorites.

30 “But we have shot at them;
Heshbon has perished (J)as far as Dibon.
Then we laid waste as far as Nophah,
Which reaches to (K)Medeba.”

31 Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites. 32 Then Moses sent to [b]spy out (L)Jazer; and they took its villages and drove out the Amorites who were there.

King Og Defeated(M)

33 (N)And they turned and went up by the way to (O)Bashan. So Og king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle (P)at Edrei. 34 Then the Lord said to Moses, (Q)“Do not fear him, for I have [c]delivered him into your hand, with all his people and his land; and (R)you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.” 35 (S)So they defeated him, his sons, and all his people, until there was no survivor left him; and they took possession of his land.
