The Eternal Word^(A)

1 In the beginning ^(B)was the Word, and the ^(C)Word was ^(D)with God, and the Word was ^(E)God. ^2 (F)He was in the beginning with God. ^3 (G)All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. ^4 (H)In Him was life, and ^(I)the life was the light of men.

¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and ^(A)the world did not know Him. ^11 (B)He came to His ^[a]own, and His ^[b]own did not receive Him. ¹² But ^(C)as many as received Him, to them He gave the ^[c]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: ^13 (D)who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

The Word Becomes Flesh

^14 (E)And the Word ^(F)became ^(G)flesh and dwelt among us, and ^(H)we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, ^(I)full of grace and truth.

The Lamb of God^(A)

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! ^(B)The Lamb of God ^(C)who takes away the sin of the world! ³⁰ This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who ^[a]is preferred before me, for He was before me.’

⁹ But we see Jesus, ^(A)who was made ^[a]a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death ^(B)crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death ^(C)for everyone.

Bringing Many Sons to Glory

¹⁰ For it was fitting for Him, ^(D)for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation ^(E)perfect through sufferings. ¹¹ For ^(F)both He who ^[b]sanctifies and those who are being sanctified ^(G)are all of one, for which reason ^(H)He is not ashamed to call them brethren,
