⁵² The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon! ^(A)Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet ^(B)you say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never ^(C)taste death.’

⁹ But we see him ^(A)who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, ^(B)crowned with glory and honor ^(C)because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might ^(D)taste death ^(E)for everyone.

Before Abraham Was, I Am

⁴⁸ The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and ^(A)have a demon?”

¹³ These all died in faith, ^(A)not having received the things promised, but ^(B)having seen them and greeted them from afar, and ^(C)having acknowledged that they were ^(D)strangers and exiles on the earth.

²⁴ So for the second time they called the man who had been blind and said to him, ^(A)“Give glory to God. We know that ^(B)this man is a sinner.”

⁵¹ Truly, truly, ^(A)I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never ^(B)see death.”

⁵ Your fathers, where are they? And ^(A)the prophets, do they live forever? ^6 (B)But my words and my statutes, which I commanded ^(C)my servants the prophets, did they not ^(D)overtake your fathers? So they repented and said, ^(E)‘As the Lord of hosts purposed to deal with us for ^(F)our ways and ^(G)deeds, so has he dealt with us.’”
