The Words of Eternal Life

^60 (A)When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?”

^66 (A)After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.

¹⁶ as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. ^(A)There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, ^(B)as they do the other Scriptures.

Warning Against Apostasy

¹¹ About this we have much to say, and it is ^(A)hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.

^43 (A)Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot ^(B)bear to hear my word.

The Truth Will Set You Free

³¹ So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ^(A)“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,

⁴¹ So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said, ^(A)“I am the bread that came down from heaven.” ⁴² They said, ^(B)“Is not this Jesus, ^(C)the son of Joseph, whose father and mother ^(D)we know? How does he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”

⁶ And blessed is the one who ^(A)is not offended by me.”
