²¹ For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life,^(A) even so the Son gives life^(B) to whom he is pleased to give it.

¹¹ And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead^(A) is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies^(B) because of^[a] his Spirit who lives in you.

²⁵ Jesus said to her, “I am^(A) the resurrection and the life.^(B) The one who believes^(C) in me will live, even though they die;

⁸ Why should any of you consider it incredible that God raises the dead?^(A)

¹⁴ Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!”^{(A) 15} The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

⁴³ When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”^{(A) 44} The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen,^(B) and a cloth around his face.^(C)

Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

⁵⁴ But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!”^{(A) 55} Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.

¹⁷ As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.”^[a](A) He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life^(B) to the dead and calls^(C) into being things that were not.^(D)

¹⁸ Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations,^(E) just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”^{[b](F) 19} Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead^(G)—since he was about a hundred years old^(H)—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.^(I)
