¹⁴ but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.^(A) Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water^(B) welling up to eternal life.”^(C)

³⁸ Whoever believes^(A) in me, as Scripture has said,^(B) rivers of living water^(C) will flow from within them.”^{[a](D) 39} By this he meant the Spirit,^(E) whom those who believed in him were later to receive.^(F) Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.^(G)

³⁵ Then Jesus declared, “I am^(A) the bread of life.^(B) Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes^(C) in me will never be thirsty.^(D)

¹³ And you also were included in Christ^(A) when you heard the message of truth,^(B) the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal,^(C) the promised Holy Spirit,^{(D) 14} who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance^(E) until the redemption^(F) of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.^(G)

²² set his seal^(A) of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.^(B)

²⁶ and whoever lives by believing^(A) in me will never die.^(B) Do you believe this?”

⁵⁸ This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”^(A)
