⁴ “Woman,^[a](A) why do you involve me?”^(B) Jesus replied. “My hour^(C) has not yet come.”

²⁰ He spoke these words while teaching^(A) in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put.^(B) Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.^(C)

Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet

13 It was just before the Passover Festival.^(A) Jesus knew that the hour had come^(B) for him to leave this world and go to the Father.^(C) Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

⁶ Therefore Jesus told them, “My time^(A) is not yet here; for you any time will do.

²³ Jesus replied, “The hour^(A) has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.^(B)

³⁰ At this they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him,^(A) because his hour had not yet come.^(B)

²⁶ When Jesus saw his mother^(A) there, and the disciple whom he loved^(B) standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman,^[a] here is your son,” ²⁷ and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

A Time for Everything

¹⁵ He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?^(A) Who is it you are looking for?”

Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”
