³² They didn’t understand what he was saying, however, and they were afraid to ask him what he meant.

¹⁹ Jesus realized they wanted to ask him about it, so he said, “Are you asking yourselves what I meant? I said in a little while you won’t see me, but a little while after that you will see me again.

⁵ “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

³⁴ But they didn’t understand any of this. The significance of his words was hidden from them, and they failed to grasp what he was talking about.

¹⁰ So they kept it to themselves, but they often asked each other what he meant by “rising from the dead.”
