⁷ If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, ^(A)ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

⁹ And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for ^(A)power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather ^(B)boast ^[a]about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

¹⁰ Therefore ^(A)I delight in weaknesses, in ^[a]insults, in ^(B)distresses, in ^(C)persecutions, in ^(D)difficulties, ^(E)in behalf of Christ; for ^(F)when I am weak, then I am strong.

¹⁰ As an example, ^(A)brothers and sisters, of suffering and patience, take ^(B)the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. ¹¹ We count those ^(C)blessed who endured. You have heard of ^(D)the ^[a]endurance of Job and have seen ^(E)the ^[b]outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that ^(F)the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.

¹² But above all, ^(G)my brothers and sisters, ^(H)do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but ^[c]your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you do not fall under judgment.

¹³ Is anyone among you ^(I)suffering? ^(J)Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to ^(K)sing praises. ¹⁴ Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for ^(L)the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, ^[d](M)anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; ¹⁵ and the ^(N)prayer of faith will ^[e](O)restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will ^(P)raise him up, and if he has committed sins, ^[f]they will be forgiven him. ¹⁶ Therefore, ^(Q)confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be ^(R)healed. ^(S)A ^[g]prayer of a righteous person, when it is ^[h]brought about, can accomplish much.

¹⁴ This is ^(A)the confidence which we have ^[a]before Him, that, ^(B)if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

¹⁵ And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, ^(A)we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
