Jesus the Way to the Father
5 Thomas(A) said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am(B) the way(C) and the truth(D) and the life.(E) No one comes to the Father except through me.(F) 7 If you really know me, you will know[a] my Father as well.(G) From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip(H) said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.(I) How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?(J) The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority.(K) Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.(L) 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes(M) in me will do the works I have been doing,(N) and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask(O) in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 “If you love me, keep my commands.(P) 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate(Q) to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth.(R) The world cannot accept him,(S) because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[b] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans;(T) I will come to you.(U) 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me.(V) Because I live, you also will live.(W) 20 On that day(X) you will realize that I am in my Father,(Y) and you are in me, and I am in you.(Z)

(K)The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own, but the Father, as He remains in Me, does His works. 11 Believe Me that (L)I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise (M)believe because of the works themselves. 12 Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and (N)greater works than these he will do; because (O)I am going to the Father. 13 And (P)whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, so that (Q)the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything (R)in My name, I will do it.
15 “(S)If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
The Holy Spirit
16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another [d](T)Helper, so that He may be with you forever; 17 the Helper is (U)the Spirit of truth, (V)whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you.
18 “I will not leave you as orphans; (W)I am coming to you. 19 [e](X)After a little while, (Y)the world no longer is going to see Me, but you are going to see Me; (Z)because I live, you also will live. 20 (AA)On that day you will know that (AB)I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I in you.
