²¹ They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me, and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.”^(A)

The Promise of the Holy Spirit

¹⁵ “If you love me, you will keep^[a] my commandments.^(A)

³ For the love of God is this, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome,^(A)

⁵ but whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God has reached perfection. By this we know that we are in him:^(A)

⁶ And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment just as you have heard it from the beginning—you must walk in it.^(A)

⁹ As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. ¹⁰ If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.^(A)

¹³ “If you will only heed his every commandment^[a] that I am commanding you today—loving the Lord your God and serving him with all your heart and with all your soul^(A)—

²⁷ for the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.^[a](A)

¹⁸ Little children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth.^{(A) 19} And by this we will know that we are from the truth and will reassure our hearts before him^{(B) 20} whenever our hearts condemn us, for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. ²¹ Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God, ²² and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him.^(C)

²³ And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.^{(D) 24} All who obey his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit that he has given us.^(E)

²⁵ I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.^{(A) 26} A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you, and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.^{(B) 27} I will put my spirit within you and make you follow my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances.^(C)
