^35 (A)By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

^20 (A)If anyone says, “I love God,” and ^(B)hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot^[a] love God ^(C)whom he has not seen. ²¹ And ^(D)this commandment we have from him: ^(E)whoever loves God must also love his brother.

¹⁰ By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, ^(A)nor is the one who ^(B)does not love his brother.

Love One Another

¹¹ For ^(C)this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, ^(D)that we should love one another. ¹² We should not be like ^(E)Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? ^(F)Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous. ¹³ Do not be surprised, brothers,^{[a] (G)}that the world hates you. ¹⁴ We know that ^(H)we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death.

¹⁰ Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him^[a] there is no ^(A)cause for stumbling.

⁵ but whoever ^(A)keeps his word, in him truly ^(B)the love of God is perfected. ^(C)By this we may know that we are in him:

^21 (A)that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that ^(B)they also may be in ^(C)us, so that the world ^(D)may believe that you have sent me.

They Had Everything in Common

³² Now the full number of those who believed were of ^(A)one heart and ^(B)soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but ^(C)they had everything in common. ³³ And with great ^(D)power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and ^(E)great grace was upon them all. ^34 (F)There was not a needy person among them, for ^(G)as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold ³⁵ and ^(H)laid it at the apostles' feet, and ^(I)it was distributed to each as any had need.

^7 (A)and there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock. At that time ^(B)the Canaanites and the Perizzites were dwelling in the land.

⁸ Then Abram said to Lot, ^(C)“Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, ^(D)for we are kinsmen.^[a]

Many Signs and Wonders Done

¹² Now many signs and wonders were regularly done among the people ^(A)by the hands of the apostles. And they were all ^(B)together in ^(C)Solomon's Portico. ¹³ None of the rest dared join them, but ^(D)the people held them in high esteem. ¹⁴ And ^(E)more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,
