⁹ Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.^(A)

¹⁴ But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say.

¹⁰ they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful,^(A) and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Peter Speaks to the Onlookers

¹¹ While the man held on to Peter and John,^(B) all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade.^(C)

⁴³ When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”^{(A) 44} The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen,^(B) and a cloth around his face.^(C)

Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

The Plot to Kill Jesus

⁴⁵ Therefore many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary,^(D) and had seen what Jesus did,^(E) believed in him.^(F)
