¹⁷ Now the crowd that was with him^(A) when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word.

² who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God^(A) and the testimony of Jesus Christ.^(B)

⁹ We accept human testimony,^(A) but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God,^(B) which he has given about his Son. ¹⁰ Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony.^(C) Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar,^(D) because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. ¹¹ And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life,^(E) and this life is in his Son.^{(F) 12} Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.^(G)

³² We are witnesses of these things,^(A) and so is the Holy Spirit,^(B) whom God has given to those who obey him.”

²² beginning from John’s baptism^(A) to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness^(B) with us of his resurrection.”

³⁵ The man who saw it^(A) has given testimony, and his testimony is true.^(B) He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe.

⁹ Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.^(A)

²⁴ This is the disciple who testifies to these things^(A) and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.^(B)

The Plot to Kill Jesus

⁴⁵ Therefore many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary,^(A) and had seen what Jesus did,^(B) believed in him.^{(C) 46} But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.
