John 1:49-2:4

New International Version

⁴⁹ Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi,^(A) you are the Son of God;^(B) you are the king of Israel.”^(C)

⁵⁰ Jesus said, “You believe^[a] because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” ⁵¹ He then added, “Very truly I tell you,^[b] you^[c] will see ‘heaven open,^(D) and the angels of God ascending and descending^(E) on’^[d] the Son of Man.”^(F)

Jesus Changes Water Into Wine

2 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee.^(G) Jesus’ mother^(H) was there, ² and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. ³ When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”

⁴ “Woman,^[e](I) why do you involve me?”^(J) Jesus replied. “My hour^(K) has not yet come.”
