¹⁵ If God places no trust in his holy ones,^(A)
    if even the heavens are not pure in his eyes,^(B)

⁸ Do you listen in on God’s council?^(A)
    Do you have a monopoly on wisdom?^(B)
9 What do you know that we do not know?
    What insights do you have that we do not have?^(C)
10 The gray-haired and the aged^(D) are on our side,
    men even older than your father.^(E)

¹⁸ If God places no trust in his servants,^(A)
    if he charges his angels with error,^(B)

²¹ “Present your case,^(A)” says the Lord.
    “Set forth your arguments,” says Jacob’s King.^(B)
22 “Tell us, you idols,
    what is going to happen.^(C)
Tell us what the former things^(D) were,
    so that we may consider them
    and know their final outcome.
Or declare to us the things to come,^(E)
23     tell us what the future holds,
    so we may know^(F) that you are gods.
Do something, whether good or bad,^(G)
    so that we will be dismayed^(H) and filled with fear.

¹⁶ In the camp they grew envious^(A) of Moses
    and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the Lord.
