²³ They waited for me as for the rain;
    they opened their mouths as for the spring rain.

10 Ask rain from the Lord
    in the season of the spring rain,
from the Lord who makes the storm clouds,
    who gives showers of rain to you,^[a]
    the vegetation in the field to everyone.^(A)

³ Let us know, let us press on to know the Lord;
    his appearing is as sure as the dawn;
he will come to us like the showers,
    like the spring rains that water the earth.”^(A)
