⁶ Sheol is naked before God,
    and Abaddon has no covering.^(A)

¹¹ Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the Lord;
    how much more human hearts!^(A)

⁸ If I ascend to heaven, you are there;
    if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there.^(A)

²² Abaddon and Death say,
    ‘We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.’^(A)

⁹ Sheol beneath is stirred up
    to meet you when you come;
it rouses the shades to greet you,
    all who were leaders of the earth;
it raises from their thrones
    all who were kings of the nations.^(A)

¹¹ If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
    and night wraps itself around me,”^[a](A)

¹⁰ Do you work wonders for the dead?
    Do the shades rise up to praise you? Selah^(A)

¹¹ Who can confront it^[a] and be safe?^[b]
    —under the whole heaven, who?^[c](A)
