¹³ For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you ^(A)put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

^43 (A)And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to ^(B)hell,^[a] to ^(C)the unquenchable fire.^{[b] 45 (D)}And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into ^(E)hell. ^47 (F)And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into ^(G)hell, ⁴⁸ ‘where ^(H)their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ ⁴⁹ For everyone will be salted with fire.^[c]

^29 (A)If your right eye ^(B)causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into ^(C)hell. ^30 (D)And if your right hand ^(E)causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into ^(F)hell.

¹⁸ And say to the people, ^(A)‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat, for you have wept in the hearing of the Lord, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? ^(B)For it was better for us in Egypt.” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat. ¹⁹ You shall not eat just one day, or two days, or five days, or ten days, or twenty days, ²⁰ but a whole month, ^(C)until it comes out at your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have rejected the Lord who is among you and have wept before him, saying, ^(D)“Why did we come out of Egypt?”’”
