4 I’m a joke to friends
who called to God and he answered;
the innocent and blameless one is a joke,
5 a torch[a] of contempt to one who is idle,
a fixed point for slipping feet.

“He who is at ease has contempt for misfortune,
But misfortune is ready [and anxiously waiting] for those whose feet slip.

4 But I am a laughingstock to my neighbor—
I, who call on God, and he answers me—
I, a righteous and complete man, am a laughingstock!
5 Those who are carefree do not worry about disaster.
They think it is reserved for those whose feet are slipping.
