⁷ The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”

Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”^(A)

⁸ Be alert and of sober mind.^(A) Your enemy the devil prowls around^(B) like a roaring lion^(C) looking for someone to devour.

² And the Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”

Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”^(A)

⁸ and will go out to deceive the nations^(A) in the four corners of the earth^(B)—Gog and Magog^(C)—and to gather them for battle.^(D) In number they are like the sand on the seashore.^(E)

¹³ When the dragon^(D) saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.^{(E) 14} The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle,^(F) so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time,^(G) out of the serpent’s reach. ¹⁵ Then from his mouth the serpent^(H) spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent. ¹⁶ But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. ¹⁷ Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war^(I) against the rest of her offspring^(J)—those who keep God’s commands^(K) and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.^(L)

⁴³ “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.

²⁵ When he went in and stood before his master, Elisha asked him, “Where have you been, Gehazi?”

“Your servant didn’t go anywhere,” Gehazi answered.

⁹ The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent^(A) called the devil,^(B) or Satan,^(C) who leads the whole world astray.^(D) He was hurled to the earth,^(E) and his angels with him.

⁷ When the powerful horses went out, they were straining to go throughout the earth.^(A) And he said, “Go throughout the earth!” So they went throughout the earth.
