    and those who mourn are lifted to safety.

⁷ but it is ^(A)God who executes judgment,
    ^(B)putting down one and lifting up another.

^40 (A)he pours contempt on princes
    and ^(B)makes them wander ^(C)in trackless wastes;
⁴¹ but ^(D)he raises up the needy out of affliction
    and ^(E)makes their families like flocks.

⁷ He ^(A)raises the poor from the dust
    and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
⁸ to make them ^(B)sit with princes,
    with the princes of his people.

⁶ The Lord ^(A)lifts up the humble;^[a]
    he casts the wicked to the ground.
