Christ in Our Place

For when we were still without strength, [a]in due time (A)Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But (B)God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified (C)by His blood, we shall be saved (D)from wrath through Him. 10 For (E)if when we were enemies (F)we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved (G)by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also (H)rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Death in Adam, Life in Christ(I)

12 Therefore, just as (J)through one man sin entered the world, and (K)death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— 13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but (L)sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, (M)who is a type of Him who was to come. 15 But the free gift is not like the [b]offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded (N)to many. 16 And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many [c]offenses resulted in justification. 17 For if by the one man’s [d]offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore, as through [e]one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through (O)one[f] Man’s righteous act the free gift came (P)to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by (Q)one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

20 Moreover (R)the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace (S)abounded much more, 21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Free from Indwelling Sin

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, (A)who[a] do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For (B)the law of (C)the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from (D)the law of sin and death. For (E)what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, (F)God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,

15 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel (B)which I preached to you, which also you received and (C)in which you stand, (D)by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless (E)you believed in vain.

For (F)I delivered to you first of all that (G)which I also received: that Christ died for our sins (H)according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day (I)according to the Scriptures, (J)and that He was seen by [a]Cephas, then (K)by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have [b]fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then (L)by all the apostles. (M)Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

24 Then comes the end, when He delivers (A)the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign (B)till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 (C)The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27 For (D)“He has put all things under His feet.” But when He says “all things are put under Him,it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. 28 (E)Now when all things are made subject to Him, then (F)the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

The Humbled and Exalted Christ

(A)Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, (B)being in the form of God, did not consider it [a]robbery to be equal with God, (C)but [b]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form (D)of a bondservant, and (E)coming in the likeness of men.
