English Standard Version
35 “A sword against the Chaldeans, declares the Lord,
and against the inhabitants of Babylon,
and against (A)her officials and her (B)wise men!
36 A sword against the diviners,
that they may become fools!
A sword against her (C)warriors,
that they may be destroyed!
37 A sword against her horses and against her chariots,
and against all (D)the foreign troops in her midst,
that (E)they may become women!
(F)A sword against all her treasures,
that they may be plundered!
38 (G)A drought against her waters,
that they may be dried up!
(H)For it is a land of images,
and they are mad over idols.
39 (I)“Therefore wild beasts shall dwell with hyenas in Babylon,[a] and ostriches shall dwell in her. She shall never again have people, nor be inhabited for all generations. 40 (J)As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities, declares the Lord, (K)so no man shall dwell there, and no son of man shall sojourn in her.

Lexham English Bible
35 A sword against the Chaldeans,” declares[a] Yahweh,
“and against the inhabitants of Babylon,
and against her officials,
and against her wise men.
36 A sword against the oracle priests,
and they will become foolish.
A sword against her warriors,
and they will be filled with terror.
37 A sword against his horses,
and against his chariots,[b]
and against all the foreign troops who are in the midst of her,
so that they may become as women.
A sword against her treasures,
so that they may be plundered.
38 A drought will come against her waters,
and they will dry up,
for it is a land of images,
and because of the frightful objects, they act like madmen.
39 Therefore[c] desert creatures will live there[d] with jackals,
and daughters of ostriches[e] will inhabit her.
And she will not be inhabited again forever,[f]
and she will not be dwelt in for all generations.[g]
40 As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah
and their neighbors,” declares[h] Yahweh,
“no one will live there,
and the son of humankind will not dwell as an alien in her.
