22 [a]“Return, O faithless sons;
(A)I will heal your faithlessness.”
“Behold, we come to You,
For You are Yahweh our God.
23 Surely, (B)the hills are a lie,
A tumult on the mountains.
Surely in (C)Yahweh our God
Is the salvation of Israel.
24 “But (D)the shameful thing has devoured the labor of our fathers since our youth, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters. 25 Let us lie down in our (E)shame, and let our dishonor cover us; for we have sinned against Yahweh our God, we and our fathers, (F)from our youth even to this day. And we have not listened to the voice of Yahweh our God.”

22 “Return, you backsliding children,
And I will (A)heal your backslidings.”
“Indeed we do come to You,
For You are the Lord our God.
23 (B)Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills,
And from the multitude of mountains;
(C)Truly, in the Lord our God
Is the salvation of Israel.
24 (D)For shame has devoured
The labor of our fathers from our youth—
Their flocks and their herds,
Their sons and their daughters.
25 We lie down in our shame,
And our [a]reproach covers us.
(E)For we have sinned against the Lord our God,
We and our fathers,
From our youth even to this day,
And (F)have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God.”
