⁹ I will deliver them to ^(A)trouble into all the kingdoms of the earth, for their harm, ^(B)to be a reproach and a byword, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them. ¹⁰ And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence among them, till they are ^[a]consumed from the land that I gave to them and their fathers.’ ”

¹⁸ “For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘As My anger and My fury have been ^(A)poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so will My fury be poured out on you when you enter Egypt. And ^(B)you shall be an oath, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more.’

⁸ in that you ^(A)provoke Me to wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have gone to dwell, that you may cut yourselves off and be ^(B)a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth? ⁹ Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, the wickedness of the kings of Judah, the wickedness of their wives, your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? ¹⁰ They have not been ^(C)humbled,^[a] to this day, nor have they ^(D)feared; they have not walked in My law or in My statutes that I set before you and your fathers.’

¹¹ “Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘Behold, ^(E)I will set My face against you for catastrophe and for ^[b]cutting off all Judah. ¹² And I will take the remnant of Judah who have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to dwell there, and ^(F)they shall all be consumed and fall in the land of Egypt. They shall be consumed by the sword and by famine. They shall die, from the least to the greatest, by the sword and by famine; and ^(G)they shall be an oath, an astonishment, a curse and a reproach!

¹⁴ Moreover ^(A)I will make you a waste and a reproach among the nations that are all around you, in the sight of all who pass by.

¹⁵ ‘So ^[a]it shall be a ^(B)reproach, a taunt, a ^(C)lesson, and an astonishment to the nations that are all around you, when I execute judgments among you in anger and in fury and in ^(D)furious rebukes. I, the Lord, have spoken. ¹⁶ When I ^(E)send against them the terrible arrows of famine which shall be for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, I will increase the famine upon you and cut off your ^(F)supply of bread. ¹⁷ So I will send against you famine and ^(G)wild beasts, and they will bereave you. ^(H)Pestilence and blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.’ ”

⁴ You have become guilty by the blood which you have ^(A)shed, and have defiled yourself with the idols which you have made. You have caused your days to draw near, and have come to the end of your years; ^(B)therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations, and a mockery to all countries.

¹⁶ “O Lord, ^(A)according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, ^(B)Your holy mountain; because for our sins, ^(C)and for the iniquities of our fathers, ^(D)Jerusalem and Your people ^(E)are a reproach to all those around us.
